Superior Court Charges Filed — November 17
Charges filed by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office are public, and each day our office files roughly 25 felony cases. We want people to see the full details of the cases we file because those cases cannot be summarized in a tweet or in a Facebook post. Before a case is filed, it is reviewed thoughtfully — and independently — by multiple prosecutors. That same thoughtful eye continues through the course of the case.
We understand that the public doesn’t have the time to look at each case individually. If they did, we believe there would be a better understanding of the types of cases we file. Our Director of Victim Services, as part of our Victim Assistance Unit, works daily alongside our Victim Advocates to support crime victims and families.
Below is a one-day example of the felony cases filed by our office on November 17, 2021. It includes rape, burglary, indecent exposure, assault, domestic violence, and unlawful gun possession among other charges.
Of these 28 defendants listed below, all but five either have previous convictions or ongoing charged criminal cases. Of the five without a conviction history, one is currently accused of slitting a man’s throat, another is charged with rape and is possibly tied to a previously unreported rape, the third is charged with assault, the fourth is charged with residential burglary, and the fifth is accused of pointing a gun at her former girlfriend in a domestic violence harassment case.
We are confident we can prove each of these cases beyond a reasonable doubt before a jury, and we want the public to know the kinds of cases we are consistently filing. The details below come from police investigators and are part of public court documents.

Attempting To Elude A Pursuing Police Vehicle
Possession Of Stolen Vehicle
Investigated by Seattle police
Investigators say the defendant implied he had a gun and gave a demand note to a teller at the KeyBank at 13245 Aurora Avenue North in Seattle — and the teller slipped a GPS tracker in with the money he demanded. Seattle police were notified citywide of the bank holdup alarm, and six minutes after the alarm went off an officer noticed a 1991 Toyota with no license plates in the area the GPS tracking was reporting. Police said the defendant blew through a red light on Aurora then fled through another red light at North 130th Street and Meridian Avenue North. Data from the GPS tracker showed the suspect was driving 64 miles per hour when the Toyota Landcruiser — stolen in Seattle a day earlier — hit another vehicle. Police found the stolen money and the GPS tracker and the handwritten demand note saying “I want 100, 50, 20 all in your til (sic). Don’t test me or I’ll shoot this b**** up.” The defendant said his drug of choice is fentanyl and that he was high during the robbery and during the collision. His criminal history includes a conviction for burglary and two theft convictions.

The victim also had a gash on the bridge of his nose from the assault. The victim’s dash cam captured the assault — and suspect’s license plate. The defendant does not have a conviction history in Washington State, but has three pending domestic violence charges.

Possession Of Stolen Vehicle
Attempting To Elude A Pursuing Police Vehicle
Investigated by Seattle police
Police said they first saw the defendant along Aurora Avenue in Seattle on November 10, 2021, when they tried to pull him over and he ran a stop sign, almost causing a collision. They stopped the pursuit — per department policy — and saw his van again two days later near Green Lake. The defendant was slumped over the wheel with the van still running, partially blocking the southbound lane on Green Lake Way North near North 63rd Street. The van had no license plates, a shattered left window and a large hole in the ignition where detectives believe it was damaged to start it. The side door also was stuck shut and there were wires sticking out of the radio. The defendant admitted he fled two days earlier and said he used fentanyl earlier. Officers found a window punch tool, a pipe they believed he used to smoke the fentanyl, a large mallet-style hammer and a set of shaved keys from the dashboard. The defendant claimed the shaved keys were already in the van when he stole it from a homeless man in Tacoma. An SPD drug recognition expert applied for a blood warrant to be approved by a judge. Those results are pending. The defendant’s criminal history includes a previous conviction for retail theft and possession of a stolen vehicle. He also had four open warrants when this case was filed by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
