Charges in Seattle Drug Case
Earlier this week, Seattle Police posted about their investigation that seized more than 30 pounds of meth.
The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office received the case referral and filed the case against two defendants on Monday. The charges for each of the two defendants were:
- Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act (possession with intent — meth)
- Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act (possession with intent — heroin)
From the public charging documents:
On January 31st, 2024, Detectives with the Seattle Police Department (SPD) and Agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted a traffic stop on the defendants and subsequently arrested the defendants. SPD Narcotics Detectives have been investigating the defendants over the course of the last four months, and through the use of a confidential informant, confirmed the defendants work together to distribute fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine throughout King County and Snohomish County. Law enforcement utilized the confidential informant in this case to conduct several controlled buys of narcotics from the defendants during the duration of this investigation.
On the date of arrest, detectives and agents served a search warrant on the suspect vehicle in which both defendants were traveling in. Law enforcement recovered 30.58 pounds of methamphetamine from the vehicle. The methamphetamine was weighed, and field tested, with a positive field test for methamphetamine. Shortly after the traffic stop, and arrest of the suspects, detectives and agents served a search warrant at the apartment in which the defendants both reside. There, detectives recovered 408.8 grams (nearly one pound) of heroin, which was weighed and field tested. The field test was positive for heroin. In addition to the narcotics, Detectives also located digital scales, and packaging commonly used to weigh and prepare narcotics for distribution.
Both defendants remain in jail on $200,000 bail.
