Rush Filed Charges in Redmond Attempted Murder Case

--

On Friday, the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office rush filed an attempted murder charge with a deadly weapon enhancement in this recent Redmond stabbing case.

From the public charging documents:

The defendant attacked the victim, an apparent stranger, as he walked down the street. Very little time appears to have passed between the defendant walking up behind the victim and beginning his vicious and brutal attack. The victim heard the defendant come up behind him. He turned away from and almost immediately felt he was being stabbed. A witness saw the defendant stabbing the victim repeatedly, knocking him to the ground. The assault only stopped because one of the witnesses shouted at the defendant, causing him to stop his attack and run away. According to one witness, the attack lasted only ten seconds, but in that time the defendant was able to inflict over a dozen stab wounds. The victim was rushed to the hospital. He sustained stab wounds to his hand, arm lower back, chest, neck and head. He was diagnosed with a brain bleed and a skull fracture.

King County prosecutors argued that the defendant should be held on $2 million. This is the first case involving the defendant that’s been referred to our office.

We appreciate the work of Redmond Police on this investigation.
