King County Prosecuting Attorney Leesa Manion Testifies in Support of Crime Survivor Services

On February 3, 2025, King County Prosecuting Attorney Leesa Manion testified in support of SB 5362, which will provide critical funding for crime survivor services into the future.

Since FY 2017, the federal Crime Victim Fund and state distributions have experienced a 90% decline. If U.S. Congress does not act, the responsibility to stand up for crime victim assistance programs falls to Washington state.

Without federal OR state action, these providers face millions of dollars in cuts. These cuts impact lifesaving services like emergency housing options, crisis lines, mobile advocacy, and access to civil legal aid.

By providing crime victim service programs with sustainable resources, SB 5362 ensures service providers have certainty and do not experience dramatic resource fluctuations that disrupt their critical work.
