The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged two defendants with a hate crime, assault and multiple burglary counts — all felony crimes. The specific charges are:

Defendant 1 (case 24–1–00288–6)

  • Hate Crime
  • Assault in the Third Degree
  • Burglary in the First Degree (three counts)

Defendant 2 (case 24–1–00289–4)

  • Hate Crime
  • Assault in the Third Degree
  • Burglary in the First Degree (two counts)

From the attached charging documents:

On June 25, 2023, a group of subjects, including the defendants, committed three home invasions in less than two hours. The home invaders — who targeted Asian households — forced their way into the residences while identifying themselves as “Seattle Police.” … The June 25 home invasions occurred in the context of a pattern of home invasions across the Puget Sound that targeted Asian households, causing significant trauma and fear for Asian community members.

On September 27, 2023, Seattle Police served search warrants as part of their investigation. On September 29, 2023, the King County Prosecting Attorney’s Office filed firearm charges against the defendants while the home invasion investigation continued.

For defendant 1, the firearm case number is 23–1–05930–8. For defendant 2 the firearm case number is 23–1–05927–8. Bail in those cases was set at $1.5 million for both defendants. Both have remained in the King County Jail since their Sept. 27, 2023 bookings, and both have pleaded not guilty in those ongoing cases.
