The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed another graffiti case and a separate property destruction case against another defendant already charged last year in multiple graffiti cases. King County Prosecuting Attorney Leesa Manion has made improving quality of life conditions for King County residents and small businesses a priority.

“If someone is convicted of vandalizing property and causing hundreds or thousands of dollars in damage, they should be held responsible for the costs of the harm they caused,” King County Prosecuting Attorney Leesa Manion said.

Here’s a rundown of the 34 felony charges filed in December against 16 overall defendants.

Details on the new cases filed Monday and Tuesday are below:

  • Case 25–1–01538–2

The defendant in this case is charged with Malicious Mischief in the Second Degree. The defendant is accused of painting graffiti on a wall on I-5 under the Yesler Street overpass. A breakdown of the damages from the Washington State Department of Transportation revealed the cost to be $2,234.95 (from multiple defendants outlined in the charging docs).

There are four other co-defendants charged also charged with Malicious Mischief in the Second Degree, all on Dec. 28, 2024. Each of those four co-defendants have pleaded not guilty and their cases are ongoing.

Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in court.

  • Case 25–1–01513–7

The defendant in this case is charged with Malicious Mischief in the Second Degree. He is accused of taking a $1,000 payment from a business and using a box cutter to heavily damage a billboard in the 12800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South in Seattle that advertised a rival cannabis business.

The defendant also has four ongoing graffiti cases filed by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office:

  • 24–1–02098–1: Malicious Mischief in the First Degree for graffiti on a wall near Leary Way in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. Because the damage was estimated at $5,996, prosecutors were able to file Malicious Mischief in the First Degree (which by law is over $5,000).
  • 24–1–02349–2: Malicious Mischief in the Second Degree involving graffiti on a State Department of Transportation retaining wall next to the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. The total damage estimated by WSDOT for actions from multiple co-defendants is $2,761.45.
  • 24–1–07098–9: Malicious Mischief in the Second Degree involving graffiti near 4th Avenue and Yesler in Seattle. The damage caused by the graffiti from multiple defendants was estimated to be $895.38.
  • 24–1–07084–9: Malicious Mischief in the Second Degree involving graffiti on an I-5 wall in Seattle. A breakdown of the damages from the Washington State Department of Transportation revealed the cost for the actions of multiple co-defendants to be $2,234.95.

Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in court.
