Felony Charges in Vehicular Homicide Case

This afternoon, the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed a Vehicular Homicide and three counts of Vehicular Assault.

From the public charging documents:

“On Thursday, May 23, 2024, at noon, the defendant, 25yO [who] was not licensed to drive and was driving a heavy-duty pick-up truck in downtown Seattle. Several witnesses reported the vehicle speeding through downtown Seattle and emitting smoke while speeding through city streets. The defendant’s passenger was in the front passenger seat. He was speeding faster than the 25mph posted limit and was fully accelerating when he slammed into the rear of a taxi, at 47mph, stopped at a red light. The violence of the collision caused both cars significant damage. The taxi driver had picked up four passengers.”

The collision resulted in significant injuries for three of the passengers in the taxi, and the other individual “suffered catastrophic injuries and died at the ER.”

The defendant is innocent until proven guilty in court.
