Felony charge in Plastic Ono Band drum set case

--

Thursday afternoon, the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged two people for a Newcastle burglary. The burglary occurred in March, and police referred the case to prosecutors this month following their investigation.

This is the case where the Plastic Ono Band drum set was stolen from the late Alan White. This is the drum kit used in John Lennon’s 1971 recording of “Imagine.”

Police are still looking for the drum set.

In addition to the burglary charge both are facing, each of the defendants are facing a separate Residential Burglary charge for breaking into the victim’s home on two separate occasions.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office asked that each of the defendants be held in jail on $15,000 bail. We argued that if released they are likely to commit a violent offense and unlikely to return to court.

The next court date for both defendants are arraignments, where pleas are entered, scheduled for June 29 in the King County Courthouse.
