Charges filed by the KCPAO: Wednesday, June 29
--
The overwhelming majority of criminal cases filed daily by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office don’t receive public attention. That’s not the fault of the public or news reporters — it’s understandable with the volume of felony cases we file each day.
The KCPAO is sharing the number of adult cases filed each day and additional details about a handful of specific cases to highlight information about the kind of cases we handle.

Robbery in the First Degree
From the charging documents:
According to the Certification for Determination of Probable Cause, the defendant arranged a meeting with the victim on the mobile marketplace application “OfferUp” for the sale of a vehicle. At the meeting location, the defendant and an accomplice produced handguns and demanded money from the victim and his wife. During the robbery, both were struck in the head with a gun. The defendant and his accomplice took $5,000, credit cards, cell phones, and other items belonging to them. The defendant has a conviction for Manufacture or Deliver Prescription Drug (2018, Wisconsin). Based on the violent robbery, the defendant poses a substantial danger to the public. The State requests that the Court set bail in the amount of $100,000, based on the likelihood that the defendant will commit a violent offense.

Rape in the Second Degree
From the charging documents:
The defendant violently raped the victim while she was working at a community center. The defendant was receiving assistance from the victim when he decided to violent rape her. The defendant first cornered the victim and aggressively touched her under her shirt. Despite the victim’s pleas for him to stop and clear instance that the defendant needed to get off her, the defendant persisted in his assaultive behavior. The victim physically struggled with the defendant, but he overpowered her, forcing his hands down her pants, ultimately ripping her pants off, leaving a broken button behind as evidence. The victim continued to fight the defendant, kneeing him, punching him and pulling his hair but he continued to dominate her and forced his hand inside of the victim’s vagina. The victim was able to get away from the defendant by biting him, she ran out of the building and a bystander called 911. Police arrested the defendant a short distance away. While the defendant does not appear to have any known criminal history, he has records of arrest in both the City of Seattle and the Portland, Oregon area. The State requests bail set in the amount of $100,000.00, the amount set at the time of the defendant’s first appearance. [The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office argued for $250,000 bail at that first appearance.]
