Charges filed by the KCPAO: Tuesday, Sept. 27
The overwhelming majority of criminal cases filed daily by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office don’t receive public attention.
That’s not the fault of the public or news reporters — it’s understandable with the volume of felony cases we file each day.
The KCPAO is sharing the number of adult cases filed each day and additional details about a handful of specific cases to highlight the kinds of cases we handle. Details below are from the public charging documents.

Assault In The Third Degree
On September 23, Seattle Police officers were flagged down at Harborview Medical Center by the victim, who is a nurse at the hospital. The victim stated that while working as nurse there, she was assaulted by a patient later identified as the defendant. The victim said the defendant was being treated at the hospital and that while the victim was treating him, the defendant spit directly on her, hitting her face and eye. Officers also spoke to a witness, who is another nurse at Harborview. The witness said that he saw the incident and confirmed the victim’s account. At the first appearance, a judge released the defendant on his own personal recognizance over the objection of King County Prosecutors. Our office requested that the defendant have no contact with the victim in this case.

Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act (possession with intent — fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine)
An informant did a controlled buy from the defendant. A search warrant was then issued for his RV in West Seattle. Police found a significant amount of several types of drugs, a scale and he had $5,000 in cash. Police also found a .22 caliber revolver, bullets and a musket. At the defendant’s first appearance, King County Prosecutors requested he be held on $100,000 bail. The first appearance judge set bail at $10,0000.

Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act (possession with intent — fentanyl)
In this North Seattle case, a cooperating witness helped police with a controlled buy. The defendant arrived at the agreed upon location with more than a thousand grams of fentanyl powder and nearly 900 grams of fentanyl pills. A search of his car also revealed possession of methamphetamine. He also had more than $2,000.00 in cash on him. At his first appearance, bail was set at $150,000 bail, and King County Prosecutors have asked that this amount be maintained because the defendant is unlikely to appear for future court dates if released.
