Charges filed by the KCPAO: Tuesday, Nov. 22

The overwhelming majority of criminal cases filed daily by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office don’t receive public attention.

That’s not the fault of the public or news reporters — it’s understandable with the volume of felony cases we file each day.

The KCPAO is sharing the number of adult cases filed each day and additional details about a handful of specific cases to highlight the kinds of cases we handle. Details below are from the public charging documents.

Organized Retail Theft In The First Degree

Between August 3, 2022, and November 4, 2022, the defendant committed 15 separate thefts from the same Sephora location in Kirkland resulting in over $45,000 of loss. The defendant has multiple theft cases in the separate Seattle Municipal Court and a theft and drug case pending in Puyallup Municipal Court. He also has multiple pending theft cases in Lynwood Municipal Court. King County prosecutors — citing the defendant’s multiple examples of not following court orders, including those in the pending cases — argued that he should be held on $25,000. The defendant also had two active warrants. The first appearance judge set bail at $500.

Possession Of Stolen Vehicle

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the First Degree

The defendant was seen on Muckleshoot Casino surveillance footage arriving in a vehicle that was later determined to be stolen. He is then seen exiting this vehicle and entering a second vehicle, a Lexus, that was also later determined to be stolen. He is seen driving the stolen Lexus around the parking lot. Later, the defendant is heard on jail calls admitting that he knew the second vehicle was stolen. Upon a search of the vehicle the defendant originally arrived in, officers located a Springfield Armory XDS firearm between the driver’s seat and center console. The defendant has several felony convictions making him ineligible to possess a firearm, including two past convictions for Burglary in the Second Degree. At the time of filing, the defendant was in custody in Whatcom County. King County prosecutors argued for $25,000 bail in this case.

Extortion In The Second Degree

According to police, the defendant accused the victim of cheating on him and threatened to release explicit videos of her to the victim’s family unless she sent the defendant $10,000. This went on for a period of months over a myriad of platforms. Finally, the defendant stated “You don’t call me right now I’m sending everything over to your dad.” After the victim did not call, the defendant sent two intimate videos to the woman’s father. King County prosecutors argued that because of the defendant’s lack of ties to the community and his repeated and deeply personal threats, he should be held on $25,000 bail.

These case summaries, which were posted Nov. 28, 2022, are not expected to be updated. To see additional details in each case, go to the KC-Script Portal.
