Charges filed by the KCPAO: Tuesday, July 5
--
The overwhelming majority of criminal cases filed daily by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office don’t receive public attention. That’s not the fault of the public or news reporters — it’s understandable with the volume of felony cases we file each day.
The KCPAO is sharing the number of adult cases filed each day and additional details about a handful of specific cases to highlight the kinds of cases we handle.

Assault in the Second Degree
From the charging documents:
The defendant fired out her window at someone on the street who she believed was too close to her building. Then she went outside, where she encountered her neighbor smoking. She perceived him to be someone else she knew and believed she had a protection order against. After briefly telling the person to leave and having them express confusion, she started firing at him. Even in her own statements, she did not state that the male was threatening her or moving towards her. She closed her eyes and fired over and over. The defendant’s perception of threats and her quick reaction to those threats is very concerning and leads the State to believe she may commit a violent offense if she is released. The State requests bail be set in the amount of $75,000.00.

Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act (fentanyl delivery)
From the charging documents:
[This case happened near 3rd Avenue Pike Street.] An undercover Officer purchased 3 “blues” from the defendant in exchange for $20. The defendant was placed under arrest, and searched incident to arrest. Officers located a large amount of jumbled of cash in the defendant’s front left pocket. Officers located a total of 37 “M-30” pills. The pills were tested at the crime lab, and tested positive (for) Fentanyl.

Burglary in the Second Degree
From the charging documents:
On June 30, 2022, the defendant entered the Shell Gas Station located at 700 12th Ave, Seattle, Washington through a broken front window of the station. The gas station was not yet open for the day, and no one had permission to enter. The front window of the gas station had been broken by another party sometime earlier to the defendant’s entry. Upon entry, the defendant began filling a bag with for-sale merchandise and a large volume of cigarettes. This incident was caught on surveillance video. When officers arrived, they observed the defendant standing behind the counter inside the gas station loading for-sale packs of cigarettes off the display rack and into her bag. Officers arrested the defendant as she tried to exit the station with the bag. Per the station manager, the cigarettes the defendant was attempting to steal had an estimated retail price of over $2,000. The KCPAO requests bail be set in the amount of $5,000.

Burglary in the Second Degree
From the charging documents:
On June 10, 2022, the defendant entered Nordstrom and was seen by staff concealing an item and attempting to exit the store without paying. He was detained by loss prevention staff, and it was determined that he was previously trespassed from all Nordstrom locations. The defendant was given both verbal and written notice of trespass on April 22, 2021, October 1, 2021, and June 7, 2022. All three trespasses were for a period of two years and were active on June 10, 2022. The defendant committed this offense just seven days after he was sentenced in 20–1–07787- 5 [two counts of Organized Retail Theft in the Second Degree].
