Charges filed by the KCPAO: Monday, Sept. 26

--

The overwhelming majority of criminal cases filed daily by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office don’t receive public attention.

That’s not the fault of the public or news reporters — it’s understandable with the volume of felony cases we file each day.

The KCPAO is sharing the number of adult cases filed each day and additional details about a handful of specific cases to highlight the kinds of cases we handle. Details below are from the public charging documents.

On September 22, 2022, Seattle Police and agents from Homeland Security and the FBI served a search warrant on the defendant’s home. The defendant, post Miranda, told detectives that inside his home, they would find fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, and firearms. The defendant told Officers everything belonged to him. After the search of the home, officers recovered 14 firearms, to include handguns, rifles, and semi-automatic rifles. In addition, officers located 1,345.4 grams of fentanyl, 238.2 grams of heroin, and 14.8 grams of methamphetamine. Officers located additional narcotics, ammunition, body armor, firearm accessories, narcotics wrapping material, and $44,482 in US Currency. The defendant is ineligible to possess a firearm due to a prior felony conviction. The defendant’s criminal history includes the following convictions: Attempted Forgery (2003), Attempting to Elude (1992). The defendant has additional misdemeanor convictions, to include 8 theft 3 convictions between 2009 and 2016. King County Prosecutors argued that he be held on $500,000 bail at the first appearance. The first appearance judge set bail at $150,000, and because we didn’t have the grounds to re-argue that amount, the KCPAO asked for that amount to be maintained when we rush filed charges. This is the first felony case involving this defendant sent to the KCPAO since 2003, which ended in the Attempted Forgery conviction.

Assault In The Third Degree

Assault In The Fourth Degree

Deputies were dispatched to S.W. Barton St./26th Ave. S.W., in reference to a male suspect striking multiple passengers on a Metro bus with is walking cane. Upon arrival, a deputy observed a male standing in the doorway of the Metro bus, screaming at the bus driver and other passengers that were standing on the sidewalk. Deputies spoke with victims on scene. The first victim stated the suspect struck in the stomach with his cane for no apparent reason, causing her pain. The second victim, a Metro district supervisor, arrived on scene to try to provide assistance with the situation. He stated the defendant struck him in the left arm several times with his cane, causing pain. The deputy observed the video footage from the Metro bus. He observed on the footage the bus coming to a stop, and the doors opening. The first victim attempted to board the bus, and the defendant stuck his cane out, striking the victim in her stomach. He said, “what are you doing, get the hell out of the way, can’t you see me coming?” The driver, at that point, intervened and asked the defendant to be patient. The defendant then started yelling and swearing at the driver. The defendant then started wildly hitting the window, plastic divider, and at one point, the drier with his cane. The defendant does not appear to have any previous criminal convictions in Washington.

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the Second Degree

On September 25, 2022, the victim called 911 to report that his vehicle had been rummaged through, and several items were stolen, to include a 9mm pistol. The victim tracked his computer’s location within two hours of calling 911. Officers went to the location where the defendant was located with the victim’s property. Officers located a loaded 9mm pistol near a bag that was under the defendant’s feet. The victim identified the property as his on scene. The defendant further admitted to Officers that he was ineligible to possess a firearm. When this felony case was filed, the defendant had an active bench warrant out of the Kent Municipal Court. The KCPAO argued that he be held on $10,000 bail.

These case summaries, which were posted Sept. 27, 2022, are not expected to be updated. To see additional details in each case, go to the KC-Script Portal.
