Charges filed by the KCPAO: Monday, Nov. 14
The overwhelming majority of criminal cases filed daily by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office don’t receive public attention.
That’s not the fault of the public or news reporters — it’s understandable with the volume of felony cases we file each day.
The KCPAO is sharing the number of adult cases filed each day and additional details about a handful of specific cases to highlight the kinds of cases we handle. Details below are from the public charging documents.
NOTE: There were no filings on Friday, Nov. 11 because of Veterans Day.

Assault In The Second Degree
Hate Crime
The defendant, without provocation, yelled racist insults at a group of Asian men in Seattle. He yelled “f****** Chinese!” made a statement about Covid, and yelled “China virus,” before proceeding to assault one of the men by headbutting him in the face. That man had to receive medical treatment for a broken nose. Several witnesses observed the assault. The defendant’s criminal history includes five convictions of assault, including Assault with a Deadly Weapon (2017). Additionally, the defendant has a pending misdemeanor assault (Cause № 667162) out of Seattle Municipal Court. Given the biased nature of the assault, the fact that it was an unprovoked assault of a stranger, and the defendant’s criminal history, the State has concerns for community safety. The State requests bail set in the amount of $10,000. King County prosecutors argued for $25,000 bail at the first appearance. The first appearance judge set bail at $10,000, and prosecutors did not have ground to re-argue the bail amount.

Sexual Misconduct With A Minor In The First Degree
Communication With A Minor For Immoral Purposes (2 charges)
The defendant was a music teacher at Renton High School. Between at least 2019 and up to him resigning from the school, the defendant sought out inappropriate relationships with at least three students. The defendant’s pattern was almost identical with each student. It started with him telling the girls that he was very attracted to them. He then proceeded to tell them that he had a sex addiction. He sent two of the girls sexually explicit texts. With one of those girls, in addition to the sexually explicit texts, the defendant began and maintained an illegal sexual relationship with her for more than a year. Because of the danger to the community, King County prosecutors argued that the defendant should be held on $75,000 bail.

Attempted Rape in the Third Degree
Residential Burglary
The defendant is alleged to have broken into the victim’s Bellevue residence in November 2022 and attempted to rape her anally. Based on their previous relationship, the victim as able to thwart his attempt by asking him to take a shower and calling 911. Prior to this incident, in August of 2022 the defendant scaled the victim’s apartment wall to break in through her unlocked balcony slider door and a neighbor called 911. The defendant has shown he is willing to go to extreme lengths to gain access to this victim, despite her having no other consensual contact with him. In addition to the attempted crime against this same victim in August of 2022 mentioned above, in January of 2020, the defendant was arrested and ultimately convicted of Malicious Mischief in the Third Degree and Criminal Trespass in the First Degree for breaking into a stranger’s home. In this current case, King County prosecutors argued that the defendant should be held on $250,000 bail and asked the court to issue two orders: one for the defendant to surrender weapons and also a pretrial sexual assault protection order prohibiting the defendant’s contact with the victim.
