Charges filed by the KCPAO: Friday, Sept. 30
The overwhelming majority of criminal cases filed daily by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office don’t receive public attention.
That’s not the fault of the public or news reporters — it’s understandable with the volume of felony cases we file each day.
The KCPAO is sharing the number of adult cases filed each day and additional details about a handful of specific cases to highlight the kinds of cases we handle. Details below are from the public charging documents.

Identity Theft in the First Degree
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the Second Degree
The defendant went to a WSECU Bank branch in Bellevue to gain access to a bank account with fraudulent identification. The employee assisting him flagged risk management and advised the defendant that he needed to bring several different forms of identification to access the account; the account connected to a $40,000.00 loan. The defendant returned the next day with a fraudulent Social Security card, military identification, and state identification with a false name and information. Upon arrest, the defendant had multiple different credit cards and identification documents on his person along with a firearm. At the defendant’s first appearance, a judge released him over the objection of King County prosecutors.

Vehicular Assault
Hit And Run — Felony
Hit And Run — Attended Vehicle
The defendant was driving northbound on State Route 203, an arterial state road in an area north of Fall City. He later told police that he had been drinking at golf club that is just south of Fall City. He made a sudden U-turn to drive south causing the first victim, who was southbound, to take drastic evasive action. She sounded her horn, and this appeared to enrage the defendant who flipped her off. He then followed and passed her car so aggressively that he hit her vehicle. This was a minor hit and she pulled over and called 911. The defendant did not stop and accelerated away. He was then seen driving very erratically, weaving all over the road, crossing into the oncoming lane, nearly hitting other vehicles, and speeding “like over 100 mph.” He crossed the centerline into on-coming traffic in a no passing area. A second victim was riding his motorcycle northbound and could not avoid being side swiped by the defendant’s car. He was forced into a ditch and suffered a severely fractured leg. The violence of the crash deployed the defendant’s driver’s side airbag. The defendant did not stop but continued driving south where he failed to negotiate the curve and drove over grass and into a light pole at the round-about with State Route 202 in Fall City. He again did not stop but drove west several miles before turning on 308th Ave S.E. where he veered into a ditch and his car became disabled. A toxicology report later determined that the defendant had a blood-alcohol content of .2 and THC was also found in his system.

Assault In The First Degree
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the Second Degree
The victim and defendant were in an argument about the victim’s cell phone when the defendant produced a gun — which he is not allowed to possess by a court order — and pointed it at the victim’s forehead. The victim tried to move the gun. When the victim turned around, the defendant shot her in the back of the neck. The victim was transported from White Center to Harborview Medical Center, where she underwent surgery. At the time this case was filed, she was still at Harborview because of her substantial injuries. The KCPAO asked a judge to hold the defendant in jail on bail.
