Charges filed by the KCPAO: Friday, June 17
The overwhelming majority of criminal cases filed daily by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office don’t receive public attention. That’s not the fault of the public or news reporters — it’s understandable with the volume of felony cases we file each day.
The KCPAO is sharing the number of adult cases filed each day and additional details about a handful of specific cases to highlight information about the kind of cases we handle.

Burglary in the Second Degree
From the charging documents:
On June 15th, 2022, the property manager of an apartment complex called 911 after having seen the defendant in the storage area of the complex. The property manager told responding officers that while he was on the lower level of the building, he saw the defendant inside the small maintenance room, removing keys from a lock box. The defendant took approximately 50–100 keys. The property manager took a photo of the defendant and provided it to officers. Officers later located the defendant, who was positively identified by the witness. Officers located the keys in the defendant’s backpack. [NOTE: The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office argued for bail to be set at $15,000. The first appearance judge set bail at $5,000.]

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the First Degree
From the charging documents:
On September 12th, 2021, Officers were working emphasis patrol in the 200–300 block of Pike Street. Officers contacted 4 males who were “throwing dice,” in violation of Seattle Municipal Code 12.22.100. Officers contacted the individuals and identified the defendant. Officers conducted a pat-down search of the defendant, and located a Taurus .40 caliber pistol in the Defendant’s bag that he was carrying. The pistol was loaded with 14 rounds in the magazine, and had 1 round in the chamber. The Defendant is a convicted felon, and ineligible to possess a firearm. The Defendant’s criminal history includes convictions for: Assault 2 Domestic Violence, Domestic Violence Harassment, Assault in the Third Degree, and drug possession with intent to distribute. [NOTE: This case was referred with the documents required by law for charges on June 12, 2022, reviewed independently, and charged by King County prosecutors on June 17, 2022. The first appearance happened shortly after the defendant’s arrest in September 2021, and at that first appearance King County prosecutors argued that the judge should hold the defendant on $50,000 bail because he’s a danger to the community. However, we needed additional documents referred by police in order to file the felony case, and we acted immediately when those documents were referred in June 2022.]

Attempted Promoting Prostitution in the First Degree
Unlawful Imprisonment
From the charging documents:
The State requests bail set in the amount of $100,000.00. This matter was before the first appearance court for a Probable Cause finding only as the defendant had not been transported from the SCORE Jail. The State’s request for bail is based upon the likelihood that the defendant will commit another violent act, that she may interfere with the administration of justice and that she is not likely to appear for future court appearances. The facts uncovered during the investigation of this case are very concerning. The defendant locked the victim in a business and forced her to pose for photos to be used in advertisements for prostitution. When the victim told her that she did not want to do this the defendant responded by saying “It does not matter if you want to. Your life is in danger if you do not.” When the victim told the defendant that she wanted to leave the defendant would not let her and told the victim that she was there to have sex with men for money. The defendant also showed the victim a photograph of the victim’s home, indicating that she knows where the victim lives. The defendant has no known ties to the community and is a flight risk. The defendant’s only known address is at a business that is used for prostitution. The State further asks the court to issue a no contact order for the protection of the victim in this case and that the defendant be ordered to surrender her passport and that she be ordered not to leave King County
