Ballard Burglary Charges Filled

--

Yesterday, the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed two felony charges against a defendant for his actions Sunday in Ballard. He is facing one count of second-degree burglary and one count of first-degree malicious mischief.

The man is accused of shattering two window panes at a Ballard business before returning to the business and stealing merchandise. Seattle police found him after a search of the area.

He also has an ongoing gun theft case, in which he was released by a judge in May. In the current Ballard case, we presented these details and asked a judge to keep the defendant in jail.

The judge released the individual on his personal recognizance.

The arraignment, where he’s expected to enter a plea, is scheduled for Dec. 23.

This year (through Dec. 9) the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has filed 793 burglary cases where burglary was the most serious charge. There also would be additional cases where a burglary charge would be secondary.

In all of 2019, we filed 825 burglary cases where burglary was the most serious charge.

This post is current as of December 10, 2020, and is not expected to be updated.
