Auburn Second-Degree Burglary Charge
The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged a 42-year-old man with second-degree burglary after police said he stole hundreds of dollars worth of hard cider.
On Nov. 10, an employee of an Auburn hard cider company called 911 to report that he could see items stolen from his company about 100 yards north in a transient camp. The employee told police a man in his 40s was moving items into the wooded area behind the camp.
The cider company employee told police there were several large pallets missing cases of hard cider, that a cart also was missing, and a roll-up door at the business was damaged from the bottom. A metal pole was found nearby consistent with it being used the pry the door open.
Police contacted the suspect, who had been previously trespassed from the complex. They reported finding several stolen cases of hard cider and other items in the nearby wetland area. A neighborhood business provided video of the burglary, which occurred shortly before 4 a.m.
The damage and stolen property totaled $1,543, staff at the hard cider company told Auburn police.
The defendant is also suspected by police of having nearly $1,000 of property from another nearby business. The business reported the items stolen from their warehouse.
His arraignment, where the defendant is expected to enter a plea, is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Nov. 25
